A concrete mow strip encases the base of a fence post, resting on a deeper concrete footing embedded in undisturbed soil or compacted fill. Two continuous number four reinforcing bars run horizontally through the mow strip and footing. Control joints are spaced at a maximum of ten feet on center, located at each fence post. The mow strip features a one-half-inch radius edge at the finish grade of the landscape.
