A tree trunk rises from the center of a planting area bounded on both sides by precast or cast-in-place concrete curbs resting on concrete footings. A subgrade drainage pipe is positioned centrally within the planting bed beneath the soil grade. Surrounding soil and compacted sub-base support the footings and curb assemblies.
