A compacted decomposed granite path is installed at a minimum depth of three inches, held down half an inch from the top of the adjacent metal edge and existing concrete paving. The assembly rests on a four-inch minimum depth aggregate base over a compacted sub-grade, with geotextile fabric placed beneath the base and separating the path from adjacent mulch beds. Contractors must ensure positive drainage across the path to avoid low spots and puddling.
