An underground irrigation assembly features a master control valve and a flow sensor housed in separate rectangular utility boxes buried beneath finished grade with a minimum depth of eighteen inches. Schedule 80 polyvinyl chloride pipes connect to the valves using schedule 80 nipples matching the valve inlet size, joined by reducing adapters and a transition adapter to high-density polyethylene. Waterproof wire connectors with looped wires join the electrical connections, while cables extend to the controller sensor terminal board as recommended by the manufacturer. Each box rests on a concrete block cap over landscape filter cloth wrapped up the sides at the base. Five pipe diameters upstream and ten pipe diameters downstream of the flow sensor remain free of valves, reducers, or elbows.
