A tree planted on a slope is supported by two two-inch diameter by ten-foot lodgepole stakes aligned with prevailing winds and secured with four vinyl tree ties per tree. The rootball sits with its top two inches above finish grade within a pit sized to twice the rootball width, backfilled with amended soil per the agronomic soils report and supplemented with plant fertilizer tablets. A three-inch clean bark mulch covers the pit alongside a three-inch high watering basin. A twelve-inch diameter by six-foot deep sand-filled sump with filter fabric underneath provides drainage on the slope.
