Cast-in-place concrete flatwork details on structure include sawcut joints, expansion joints, and transitions at vertical surfaces. A sawcut joint features a one-eighth-inch by one-and-one-half-inch deep cut above reinforcement and a backing wire. An expansion joint separates pour one and pour two with one-quarter-inch expansion material extending through the concrete slab. A concrete flatwork condition at a vertical surface incorporates expansion material and joint sealant with a maximum two percent slope. Reinforcing steel and welded wire fabric are placed within the structural concrete pour.
