A shrub is planted inside a specified planter pot filled with eighty-five percent compacted soil and topped with three inches of mulch. The root ball rests within the soil above three inches of washed number fifty-seven gravel separated by a geotextile filter fabric. A lateral drainage line runs through the drain hole at the bottom of the planter pot. The planter pot sits on either two-inch risers with a minimum of three risers per pot or one-inch risers with a minimum of four risers per pot. The risers bear on pavers set over the finish grade and the top of a grade beam or structural slab.
