A one-foot-six-inch wide maintenance band abuts the face of the building with a six-inch layer of drainage backfill below a three-inch layer of crushed stone surfacing. Filter fabric wraps all sides of the rock mulch bed. A metal edger terminates the stone edge, positioned one inch above the finish grade of the rock mulch with the top of the stake recessed one inch below the top of the header. A drainage backfill slopes away from the assembly.
