A structural steel post extends down into a cast-in-place concrete footing embedded below the finish surface. The concrete pier dimensions and depth are sized per structural engineering requirements. A surface paving or slab abuts the post with joint sealant filling the perimeter gap around the steel tube. Notes indicate that concrete batch plant inspection is not required.
