A manual drain valve is installed in a subsurface drainage assembly below finish grade, housed within two specified rectangular valve boxes with locking lids bolted together. The drain valve connects to the mainline via a nipple and ell with a PVC threaded outlet and a pipe maintaining a minimum eighteen-inch offset from the PVC line. A three-inch PVC pipe with one threaded end extends from the valve into a minimum three cubic foot drain rock sump with a twenty-four-inch depth. All pipe and fittings must match the diameter of the iron pipe size female connection to the drain valve, and one manual drain valve must be installed at the lowest point of the mainline on site subject to review and approval by the landscape architect prior to installation.
