Concrete paving sits adjacent to a planting bed supported by a compacted or undisturbed sub-grade. Weed barrier fabric lays directly over the prepared earth and extends up the vertical edge of the concrete paving. Bark or stone mulch fills the planting area, held down one inch below the top of the adjacent concrete paving, walks, and pads.
