A 3-inch flanged hydrometer in a normally closed configuration connects to the main water line via schedule 80 PVC threaded nipples and schedule 80 PVC female threaded adapters on both sides. Flanged fittings matching the valve and mainline sizes secure the meter, resting on a concrete paver and compacted 3-inch gravel bed surrounded by 6-inch concrete masonry unit block walls. The entire assembly sits within a standard 18-inch deep valve box with an extension set flush to the finish grade. System wires run in conduit with waterproof connections typical, including 30 inches of coiled wire from the controller and a flow sensor cable.
