A quarter-inch diameter safety rail is positioned at the front of metal shelving with a rod safety edge. The vertical leg of the rail embeds half an inch into the shelf and maintains a three-eighth-inch clearance from the front edge. One hundred percent silicone sealant fills the penetration around the rail.
