A lateral connection from an underdrainage pipe to a collector pipe runs beneath an athletic field turf system. The assembly rests on a compacted trench bottom lined with geotextile and backfilled with coarse sand. A perforated round underdrainage pipe connects to a perforated collector pipe using a gasket tee, with a gasket cap sealing the end of the run. Above the drainage layer sits an athletic field rootzone mix and seeded or sod turf.
