A gate valve is connected to a PVC mainline using Schedule 80 PVC male adapters and enclosed within a protective six-inch PVC pipe sleeve. The assembly rests on four inches of pea gravel with no soil inside the box, supported by three total bricks below the plastic valve box flange. A ten-inch round plastic valve box with a bolt-down lid finishes flush with the lawn grade or one inch above shrub and groundcover areas. The entire buried valve mechanism sits approximately eighteen inches below the finish grade.
