An eighteen-inch minimum cover is maintained below paving using a six-inch wide trench backfilled with clean, compacted native soil. A blue detectable warning tape is installed six inches below grade directly above the PVC conduit and electrical conduit. A separate detail provides an eighteen-inch minimum depth for a brass gate valve matched to the mainline size. The valve connects via Schedule 80 nipples and PVC unions to the PVC mainline, supported on bricks over a concrete thrust block and compacted subgrade within a round box having a locking cover.
