A pit excavated for shrub installation on a slope measures twice the rootball width and matches the rootball depth. The rootball sits on site soil with amended backfill conforming to the agronomy soils report, supplemented by plant fertilizer tablets. The top of the rootball is positioned two inches above the finish grade, ensuring the sides remain unexposed and excess soil does not cover the top. A three-inch depth of mulch covers the planting bed per specifications, bounded by a three-inch high watering basin. The finish grade slope is maintained not to exceed 1.5 to 1.
