The root ball rests on undisturbed subgrade with the root flare set two inches higher than finish grade to allow for settling. Planting soil mix surrounds the root ball while mulch covers the surface at a specified type and depth, keeping clear of the trunk. A constructed berm forms a depressed watering basin around the plant. Wrapping material is removed from the upper root ball except from underneath.
