A PVC Schedule 40 pipe sleeve is installed underground beneath a sidewalk or pavement with a minimum depth of eighteen inches to the top of the trench. The sleeve diameter must be a minimum of two times the diameter of the enclosed pipe. The trench is filled with specified backfill free of rock or debris larger than one inch in diameter, ensuring no rocks are placed directly adjacent to the pipe. The subgrade beneath the sidewalk or pavement is compacted per backfill and trenching specifications.
