A 4-inch Schedule 40 steel pipe post is embedded into a concrete footing to function as a gate hold-open assembly. A half-inch steel plate is fully welded to the post, and a quarter-inch steel plate is fully welded to the plate, featuring a drilled hole in the flange to accept a one-and-a-half-inch diameter steel pin where the gate swings to hold open. The top of the post has a half-inch chamfer applied typically. The assembly is installed to match finish elevations of adjacent curb and sidewalk at the finish grade, and all steel components are to be galvanized after fabrication.
