Number 7 bars are terminated with heads at both ends at each intersection of the longitudinal reinforcement bars. The upper interior face of the head engages the outermost layer of east-west direction longitudinal reinforcement, while the lower interior face engages the outermost layer of north-south direction longitudinal reinforcement. Shear reinforcement and longitudinal reinforcement are tied and secured at each intersection typically. A typical two-inch clear cover is maintained at the top and a typical four-inch clear cover at the bottom.
