A transition connects concrete or asphalt paving to a new three-inch layer of decomposed granite or rock. Existing soil adjacent to the paved area is excavated to a minimum depth of three inches for a distance of five feet with a five-foot minimum taper. The new excavated finish grade transitions up to the new decomposed granite or rock surfacing material over the existing soil level.
