Plants are set into a plant pit with angled sides that spans twice the width of the root ball. The top of the root ball is positioned two inches above the finish grade. Amended backfill fills the surrounding pit over undisturbed soil. A layer of mulch is applied on top and held back three inches from the base of the plant.
