One-eighth inch thick steel edging five inches deep acts as a physical barrier between a stabilized decomposed granite path and an adjacent planting bed. The decomposed granite is installed in one and a half inch layers, with each layer compacted to ninety percent and the top layer containing a minimum of seventy-five percent dust fines, mixed with a stabilizer per manufacturer specifications. Anchor stakes are provided at a minimum of five feet on center along the steel edging. The planting bed consists of a three inch mulch layer over amended soil, subsoil, and compacted fill placed per the geotechnical report.
