A tree is planted into a prepared root ball in an excavated pit on an existing slope, supported by two vertical stakes with horizontal ties. A level watering basin surrounds the trunk, bordered by a two to four-inch earth berm sized for five gallon or larger stock per standard detail. The surrounding slope is finished with fabric under rock or bark mulch as specified per plan. All other planting details on the sheet apply for plantings in slopes four-to-one or greater.
