A cast-in-place concrete paving construction joint with a thickened slab edge. A one-half inch diameter dowel is embedded across the joint with its location matching the rebar schedule, set within a thickened edge measuring one-half of the slab thickness extending one foot typical on each side. The joint features a three-sixteenths inch wide saw cut at the surface. A secondary detail shows a sawcut joint with a depth equal to one-quarter of the typical slab thickness.
