A brass or bronze gate valve is installed inline on a main line as specified, resting on a bed of four inches of washed drain rock. Adapter fittings matching the main line type connect to schedule eighty close nipples on each side of the valve. A six-inch diameter PVC pipe extension surrounds the valve, extending eighteen inches below grade to the main line. The assembly is housed within a six-inch diameter round valve box, set two inches above grade at shrubs or flush to grade at lawn areas. Geotechnical cloth is placed under the gravel and wrapped up the sides of the valve box, and a purple non-potable tag is included.
