A round valve box is installed flush with the finish grade in turf areas or level with the top of bark mulch in planting areas. A quick coupler is mounted inside on a one-inch brass riser of required length, resting on a six-inch minimum depth of one-half-inch washed aggregate drainage base. The riser connects through a one-inch pre-manufactured swing joint with brass threaded inserts to a one-inch Schedule 80 nipple. The piping ties into the irrigation main line sized per plans over subgrade compacted to ninety-five percent.
