A five-eighths-inch by eight-foot copper grounding rod is driven into the earth below finished grade and pavement. A number six AWG bare copper wire connects to the rod using a grounding rod clamp and runs through a one-inch PVC electrical conduit and sweep for earth ground. The top of the rod is housed within a ten-inch round valve box with a locking lid, set over a three-inch minimum depth of three-quarter-inch washed gravel.
