An air relief valve is installed at the high points in the drip zone on a schedule 80 polyvinyl chloride riser connected to a polyvinyl chloride schedule 40 tee on the main header pipe. The assembly sits inside a subterranean emitter box with its lid flush to the finish grade. The entire tee fitting rests on a minimum depth of three inches of three-quarter-inch washed gravel bed for drainage and support. A schedule 40 female adapter connects the valve to the riser pipe.
