An underground valve box houses an inline valve connected to polyvinyl chloride schedule 80 piping using PVC schedule 80 nipples with a minimum and maximum length. The assembly rests on a gravel bedding layer over compacted subgrade. Polyvinyl chloride schedule 80 forty-five-degree elbows transition the mainline depth outside the box. The valve box cover is set one-half inch above finished grade in turf areas and two inches above soil level or one inch above the mulch layer in shrub areas.
