A pipe or conduit passes through a gypsum wall partition equipped with acoustic insulation. An annular joint between one-half inch minimum and one inch maximum width surrounds the metal sleeve, filled with fire safing insulation per manufacturer requirements. The metal sleeve is provided by the trade of the penetrating item. The annular space is sealed with drywall fire code compound, taped and sanded to form a complete seal to the drywall. Acoustical sealant is provided as required per plans without diminishing the fire safing effect.

METAL SLEEVE PROVIDED BY TRADE OF PENETRATING ITEM PROVIDE ACOUSTICAL SEALANT AS REQUIRED PER PLANS. SEALANT SHALL NOT DIMINISH FIRE SAFING EFFECT FOR RATINGS REQUIRED. VERIFY WITH MFR. 1/2" MIN - 1" MAX FILL ANNULAR JOINT WITH FIRE SAFING PER MANUFACTURER'S REQUIREMENTS FOR FIRE RATINGS REQUIRED PER PLANS. FIRE SAFING SHALL BE COMPATIBLE WITH SURROUNDINGS AND PENETRATING MATERIALS.
