Seismic and structural bracing requirements for a suspended ceiling grid system featuring compression struts and diagonal bracing wires. The compression strut consists of an unpunched steel section attached to the main runners using two number eight sheet metal screws, and is secured to the deck above using either one I-lag screw or a powder-driven pin. Vertical hanger wires of twelve gauge steel are spaced at four feet each way with a minimum of three tight turns in one and one-half inches at both ends. Bracing wires are installed at a maximum forty-five degree angle, positioned within two inches of the cross runner connection, with four tight turns at each end. A schedule of allowable heights is provided for single and double tee'd compression strut sizes with one and five-eighths inch flanges.
