A five-eighths inch by eight foot copper grounding rod is driven into the earth and connected via a grounding rod clamp to a number 6 AWG bare copper wire. The wire routes through a one-inch PVC electrical conduit and sweep for earth ground. A ten-inch round valve box with a locking lid sits over the top of the rod, resting on a three-inch minimum depth of three-quarter-inch washed gravel. The assembly is set below finished grade and pavement, maintaining a minimum wire depth of twenty-four inches.
