A wide-flange W-beam spans horizontally across the test setup, bearing a 100-ton hydraulic jack positioned over a pedestal and a compression load test pier with an enlarged bulb base. Anchor piers with vertical rods and embedded plates provide reaction resistance on either side, spaced at six feet six inches and thirteen feet overall. An alternative helical anchor configuration is noted for use in lieu of uplift Geopier elements.
