Clear and level floor areas are maintained around interior doors based on the door swing direction and hardware configuration. A minimum thirty-six inch width is required for the clear area, extending twelve inches minimum beyond the latch side when the door is equipped with both a latch and a closer. Approach clearances extend forty-eight inches on the push side and sixty inches on the pull side, with an eighteen inch minimum clearance maintained alongside the latch.
