An internally lit exit sign is powered by the emergency power system and remains illuminated at all times. The letter height is specified at six inches minimum, with a three-quarter inch minimum stroke spacing except for the letter 'I'. Letter spacing maintains a three-eighths inch minimum, with side margins of three-quarters of an inch minimum and a two-inch minimum bottom margin.
