Steel or wood posts are set into the ground at a maximum spacing of 1.8 meters with a minimum embedment depth of 0.9 meters. A 0.1 meter by 0.1 meter trench is excavated upslope along the line of posts. Wire fencing with a 12-1/2 minimum gauge and a maximum mesh spacing of 150 millimeters is stapled to the posts. Filter barrier fabric is attached to the wire fence and extended down into the trench, followed by backfilling and compacting the excavated soil.
