An isolation joint in concrete slabs with thickness greater than seven inches features a continuous joint filler and a one-and-one-quarter-inch expansion cap over a dowel bar positioned at mid-slab depth at T over two. The joint incorporates a half-inch wide gap at the surface, receiving Detail 1 or 2. Joint filler is installed per note five, and dowel sizing is determined from the project schedule.
