A concrete slab with a depressed pit bears over a multi-layer waterproofing membrane system laid across compacted subgrade and crushed stone base. The waterproofing assembly consists of a continuous subslab membrane sandwiched between protective layers and structural concrete above. The membrane follows the stepped contour of the pit excavation to maintain continuous moisture protection.
