Floor transitions permit a maximum one-half inch vertical change in level for carpeted surfaces, and a maximum one-quarter inch vertical change for general level transitions. Openings in the floor surface must maintain a maximum one-half inch dimension, with the long dimension oriented perpendicular to the predominant direction of travel.
