A plywood or OSB sheathing joint bears over a framing member with differing panel thicknesses on each side. The left side specifies 5/8-inch or 19/32-inch plywood or OSB, while the right side specifies 1/2-inch full plywood or OSB fastened with 2-1/8-inch long nails on both sides. A 1/8-inch plywood shim is added at the panel edge and secured with 10d nails at 12 inches on center.
