New building interior and exterior thresholds are restricted to a maximum height of one-half inch above adjacent floor levels with exposed edges beveled or sloped at an angle not exceeding forty-five degrees so that vertical elevation changes do not exceed one-quarter inch. Door panels require a minimum thirty-two inches of clear width for both sliding and hinged configurations. A ten-inch minimum smooth uninterrupted surface is maintained at the door bottom rail, and compressed carpet is positioned a maximum of one-quarter inch below the top of the threshold.
