Wall-mounted drinking fountains require specific accessibility clearances for wheelchair users. The low fountain spout requires a maximum height of thirty-six inches with a minimum nine-inch toe clearance and twenty-seven-inch knee clearance. The high fountain requires a spout height between thirty-eight and forty-three inches above the finished floor. The clear floor space extends forward with a minimum seventeen-inch knee clearance depth and eighteen-inch minimum depth below the unit. When an alcove depth exceeds twenty-four inches, the alcove width must be a minimum of thirty-six inches.
