Vertical clearances and dimensional requirements apply to ramp handrails and warning curbs. The top handrail is positioned between thirty-four and thirty-eight inches above the ramp surface, with a forty-two-inch minimum height required where a guardrail is necessary. An optional warning curb sits at the edge of the ramp with a two-inch minimum height, and a six-inch warning curb is required if a drop-off of more than six inches exists between the ramp and adjacent grade. Vertical rails and horizontal railings provide structural support and safety compliance for level areas and ramps exceeding thirty inches in height.
