Cold-formed steel metal studs frame perpendicularly to the metal deck above using a minimum 43-mil deep leg top track that is specified one gauge thicker than the studs. The top track secures to the concrete-filled metal deck using two Hilti X-U power-driven fasteners per flute with a 1-1/4 inch minimum embedment, or to a bare metal deck without concrete using two number 12 sheet metal screws per flute. Metal studs connect to the top track using one number 10 sheet metal screw on each stud and each side.
