A metal stud brace is installed at 4 feet on center maximum and staggered along the wall run. The ends of the stud brace are coped to fit against the top track. Four number 8 Teks self-drilling screws fasten the brace to the minimum 18-gauge standard leg top track. A general note explicitly prohibits using this bracing configuration for attaching backing at wall-supported items. The vertical stud wall extends upward toward the ceiling line with maximum dimensions of 2 feet to the brace intersection and 4 feet maximum along the diagonal brace.
