The waterproofing membrane extends beneath the concrete slab and formwork with a twelve-inch minimum overlap provided for a future tie-in. A two-by-four wood kicker braces the vertical formwork against a vertical stake driven into the ground, maintaining a sixteen-inch minimum clearance. The driven stake must remain outside the membrane zone without puncturing the waterproofing layer.
