Accessible door requirements specify a lever or U-shaped handle mounted thirty-six to forty-two inches above the finished floor. The door bottom rail requires a minimum twelve-inch height or a kick plate to prevent wheelchair damage. A rubber bumper on the wheelchair footrest protects the lower door assembly.
