An erosion control blanket is positioned at the outlet of a culvert or storm drain equipped with a flared end section. The blanket has minimum dimensions of 1830 millimeters by 1220 millimeters. An installation note specifies that an erosion control blanket must be placed at the outlet of all new culverts and storm drains that lack a riprap blanket.
